Sarah Robles ended a 16-year medal drought for U.S. weightlifters
Sarah Robles has become the first U.S. woman to claim a weightlifting medal since the sport's Olympic debut (for women) 16 years ago.
Robles took home bronze on Sunday in the women's over-75-kilogram category, finishing behind gold medal-winner Meng Suping from China and North Korea's Kim Kuk Hyang.
Robles lifted 286 kilograms total, 126 in the snatch and 160 in the clean and jerk. Suping finished with 307kg total, just one more than Hyang.
Just look at this final lift, though.

Tara Nott won gold and Cheryl Haworth took bronze in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. No male U.S. weightlifter has won since 1984.
