Olympic medalist who came out as bisexual now says he's gay
Olympic medalist Tom Daley came out as bisexual last December on YouTube, though he was quick to add "I still fancy girls" in a video that's been viewed more than 10 million times.
Now, though, the 19-year-old British diver is updating his status.
In a taping of ITV2's Celebrity Juice in Britain on Thursday to promote his upcoming reality show, Daley said he is gay.
"I came out on YouTube as I wanted to say what I wanted to say without anyone twisting it," Daley said. "I told my family before I told the world. I was terrified. I did not know what the reaction was going to be."
Daley, who won a bronze in the 10-meter diving event in London in 2012, is in a relationship with Oscar-winning screenwriter and gay rights activist Dustin Lance Black, 39. He said the the reaction to that news has been supportive, though he's puzzled why anyone would care about his status.
"It should not really matter," he said. "Nobody should care. It is not what people like and don't like, they should mind their own business."
