Jansrud edges Svindal for Norway 1-2 in World Cup combined
WENGEN, Switzerland (AP) Kjetil Jansrud edged ahead of his Norwegian teammate Aksel Lund Svindal to provisionally win a World Cup combined event that favored downhill racers on Friday.
Jansrud needed acrobatic recovery skills to avoid a near wipeout in the final slalom section, and beat first-run leader Svindal by .04 seconds.
Adrien Theaux of France placed third, trailing .13 behind Jansrud's two-run time of 2 minutes, 37.61 seconds.
The result was provisional because lower-ranked racers who had at least three seconds to make up from the morning downhill portion were yet to start their slalom run.
Jansrud was poised to claim his second World Cup win this season, and 12th of his career.
