Biathlon World Cup champion Fourcade wins 15K mass start

RUHPOLDING, Germany (AP) Four-time biathlon World Cup champion Martin Fourcade won the men's 15-kilometer mass start to extend his lead in the overall standings on Sunday.

The Frenchman missed one target and finished in 34 minutes, 7.2 seconds to beat Ondrej Moravec of the Czech Republic by 13.7 seconds. Moravec shot cleanly.

Tarjei Boe of Norway was third, 29.7 behind with three missed targets, ahead of Dmytro Pidruchnyi of Ukraine, who was 31.4 behind with two missed targets.

Arnd Peiffer of Germany was fifth and Fourcade's older brother Simon sixth.

After 11 of 26 competitions, Fourcade leads the standings with 541 points, 119 more than Norway's Emil Hegle Svendsen, who was 13th in the mass start.

The women's race takes place later Sunday.
