Bach begins work at IOC headquarters
Thomas Bach has spent his first day at IOC headquarters as the new president, reviewing preparations for the Sochi Olympics with predecessor Jacques Rogge and meeting with staff.
Bach moved into his new offices at the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Tuesday, exactly a week after he was elected president in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The German spent most of the day with Rogge, who handed over key files and briefed him on the inner workings of the IOC administration.
Bach tells The Associated Press the change of leadership means there ''may be a different style but not a different direction.''
He says discussions with Rogge focused on Sochi, the Black Sea resort in southern Russia that will host the Winter Games in less than five months.
