6 cities make short list for 2016 US diving trials

Atlanta and Indianapolis are among six cities being considered as sites for the 2016 U.S. Olympic diving trials.

USA Diving announced Thursday the short list of cities bidding to host the meet that will determine the team for the Rio Games.

Also under consideration: Minneapolis; Greensboro, N.C.; Riverside, Calif.; and Tucson, Ariz.

Indianapolis has hosted the trials five times since 1984. Atlanta has the natatorium on the Georgia Tech campus that was used for diving during the 1996 Olympics.

A committee of staff and board members from USA Diving will visit each of the six cities before the finalists are announced Oct. 21.

The winning city is scheduled to be revealed Dec. 10.
