Zac Rinaldo adds AHL suspension to current NHL ban
There is the Gordie Howe hat trick. And Zac Rinaldo is two-thirds of the way to creating one of his own.
The Howe hat trick, named for the NHL legend, involves scoring a goal, notching an assist and being involved in a fight in the same game.
Rinaldo's would be a wee bit different, and not one anyone honestly wants to attach their name.
Rinaldo, a noted enforcer, was sent to the Boston Bruins' Providence AHL club recently.
The decision to demote Rinaldo, however, happened while the NHL was in the process of suspending him for this hit. That one earned him a five-game ban.
And the 25-year-old didn't waste any time getting the bad side of the AHL, earning an automatic suspension for the hit below.
