Winnipeg breaks out tracksuits, dollar bills to troll Evander Kane

Winnipeg Jets fans were preparing for weeks to "welcome" Evander Kane back to his former city, and their humor did not let NHL fans down. Jets fans arrived for Sunday's game with props and costumes to poke fun at different infamous moments in Kane's history with the Jets.

One of the most popular costumes was a tracksuit, an homage to a story dating back to last February when Kane showed up to a team meeting wearing a tracksuit in violation of the team's dress code. Reports at the time claimed former teammate Dustin Byfuglien then tossed the tracksuit in the shower as a message to Kane. The 24-year-old Kane was traded to the Sabres shortly after the incident.

Naturally, Winnipeg fans dubbed Sunday's game #TrackSuitNight on Twitter and dressed accordingly.

One fan even rocked a shower cap as a reference to Byfuglien's alleged treatment of Kane's tracksuit.

Then there were the dollar bills, which referenced the time Kane posed with a stack of money in Vegas and pretended to use the money to call Floyd Mayweather. The photo was seen by some in Winnipeg (and around the NHL) as an arrogant move considering most people don't have thousands of dollars lying around to pose with for photos at a ritzy hotel in Vegas.

So some fans at Sunday's game used money as a way to mock Kane. One of the youngest fans to do so also had one of the best photos of the night.

But Kane had the last laugh Sunday, as the Sabres topped the Jets, 4-2, and Kane recorded an assist in the winning effort.

Better luck next time, Winnipeg.
