William Nylander finally receives good news following concussion

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect William Nylander was supposed to go to the World Junior Championships to put up the type of performance which showed he was ready to play on an NHL roster. Instead, Nylander suffered a concussion in his first game with Team Sweden and has not played since. But nearly three weeks after sustaining the concussion, Nylander is finally receiving some good news.

According to an interview by TSN with Toronto GM Lou Lamoriello, Nylander is nearly finished with the concussion protocol and should return to full contact soon.

It is unclear whether Lamoriello intends for Nylander to return to the AHL or NHL level, but the AHL seems like a more likely destination given that Nylander has not played in a game since Dec. 26 when he suited up for Team Sweden at the World Junior Championships against Team Switzerland. 

Nylander was dominant at the AHL level before leaving for World Juniors, as he tallied 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in 27 games with the Toronto Marlies so far this season.
