Watch the Pittsburgh Penguins raise Stanley Cup banner to rafters
The Pittsburgh Penguins opened up their season on Thursday night, hosting the Washington Capitals at home in a divisional rivalry game. Before the opening face-off, the Pens had some business to tend to, as they earned themselves a banner last spring.
After skating with Stanley Cup for one final time, the Pens watched as their 2016 Stanley Cup banner was raised at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
It's always cool to watch the product of all last year's drama and hard work materialize in a championship banner that will hang from the rafters for decades to come. Once that's over and done with, it really becomes official that last year is history and the league resets to start anew.
