Watch Matt Murray rob John Tavares with an amazing desperation glove save

Often in hockey it's said that a team's goaltender has to be their best penalty killer. On Wednesday night, Matt Murray showed why.

During a five-on-three power play in the second period of the Islanders-Penguins game, the Pittsburgh netminder committed highway robbery on a golden chance for New York. With the two-man advantage, some nice puck movement gave Islanders captain John Tavares a great look on net. Knowing Tavares' skill and seeing how much open space he had to shoot at, it looked to be an almost-certain goal.

Unfortunately for the captain, Murray went cross-crease and made an outstanding desperation glove save while on his back. The puck was caught right on the goal line to deny a would-be goal and spoil a golden opportunity for the Islanders to capitalize on special teams.

That's some good penalty killing by the man between the pipes.
