Vancouver Canucks F Bo Horvat Scores 100th Point in Boston

In his third season with the Vancouver Canucks, forward Bo Horvat surpassed 100 career points with a goal and an assist against the Bruins.

Vancouver Canucks forward Bo Horvat entered Saturday’s game against the Boston Bruins with 99 career points.

However, in Boston the focus was less on Horvat and more on Loui Eriksson. The former Bruin was playing in his first game in Boston since leaving in free agency.

But, as he so often does, Horvat stole the spotlight. He is the Canucks Player of the Game:

Horvat had a glorious chance for his 100th point last game against Columbus. However his highlight-reel dangle was not enough for a goal.

So instead, he got his milestone point in greasier fashion:

OK, OK, overall the play was still pretty nice. Horvat got things started with the pass to Alexandre Burrows. After Burrows centered, Jannik Hansen narrowly missed scoring himself, before Horvat found it and put it home.

That point pulled Horvat a point ahead of Henrik Sedin for the team scoring lead. Already ahead of everyone in goals, he came oh-so-close to padding that lead with another:

Anton Khudobin came up with a remarkable goal line save with the pad.

In the wake of Sven Baertschi‘s concussion, the Hansen-Horvat-Burrows line has looked sharp. They continued to generate chances all afternoon, and Horvat picked up an assist on Burrows’ buzzer-beater in the second period:

With two minutes to go in the game, the Bruins took a late lead.

Unfortunately, coach Willie Desjardins decided to put Brandon Sutter on the ice as an extra attacker. Instead of, you know, his leading goal-scorer, who had already put up two points.

Horvat could only watch from the bench as the Vancouver Canucks failed to score on a late flurry of chances. His mutli-point effort goes to waste as his team drops their second game on this road trip.
