Vancouver Canucks C Brandon Sutter Scores Twice vs. Wild
Brandon Sutter is now tied with Horvat for the Vancouver Canucks’ team lead in goals, as he beat a Vezina Trophy candidate goaltender twice.
The Vancouver Canucks now have two players with 14 goals on the year.
Brandon Sutter scored twice against Minnesota Wild’s Devan Dubnyk. The pair of goals ties him with Bo Horvat for the team lead.

In his first game back from injury, Jannik Hansen began the night on Sutter’s line. Hansen had a hand in Sutter’s first, as he took the puck to the slot. Four Wild players converged on him there, and his shot attempt was blocked. But Sutter was there to pounce on the loose puck:

That tied the game for the Canucks after the Wild had opened the scoring.

By late in the second period, the Wild had forged ahead 5-2. Sutter drew them within two goals with a late power play tally. Daniel Sedin fed Sven Baertschi for a one-timer. Marco Scandella blocked the shot, but Sutter whacked the puck out of mid-air and behind Dubnyk.

Unfortunately, the Wild scored six goals of their own, and Sutter finished a minus-two on the evening.
However, he also won 71% of his faceoffs, threw two hits and helped kill off Minnesota’s only power play of the game.
It was not enough to secure victory for the Vancouver Canucks. But Sutter contributed two goals against a goalie who will receive serious consideration for the Vezina Trophy.
For a team that does not score many goals to begin with, Sutter hitting the scoresheet 14 times this season is a welcome sight.
