Vancouver Canucks: Alex Burrows and Derek Dorsett out with Injuries vs. Ducks

The Vancouver Canucks will be without Alex Burrows and Derek Dorsett when they take on the Anaheim Ducks tonight.

The Vancouver Canucks are shaking up their fourth line ahead of Sunday’s match-up with the Anaheim Ducks. Forwards Alex Burrows and Derek Dorsett will be out of the lineup while forward Jack Skille and defenseman Alex Biega will draw into the lineup.

Dorsett left Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings in the second period with what appeared to be a shoulder injury after a hit by Brayden McNabb.

Burrows was also shaken up by a hit in the third period of last night’s game. He did not leave the game and was used in the shootout.

There is no word on the long-term status of Burrows or Dorsett, but both injuries are obviously serious enough to keep them out of tonight’s lineup.

Skille has been in and out of the lineup this season, splitting time with Jake Virtanen. These moves keep Virtanen in the lineup in a game where his size will likely be a factor.

Biega gets into his first game of the season with the Canucks. It’s not yet known if he will be used as the 12th forward or as a seventh defenseman, so that will be something to watch in tonight’s game.

If he is used as a seventh defenseman, it will likely be to limit Philip Larsen‘s ice time. Larsen struggled defensively in last night’s game against the Kings and they may want to limit him to offensive situations and the power play.

The Canucks will also see the return of Ryan Miller, who is fully recovered from a groin injury that has kept him out since Tuesday. The Canucks will need a solid performance from him as they look to rebound from Saturday’s loss to the Kings.
