Top prospect Eichel puts on impressive show in loss to Belarus
Projected No. 2 draft pick Jack Eichel is testing how he compares to NHL-caliber players while playing for Team USA in the IIHF World Championships, and the 18-year-old is more than holding his own so far.
Eichel assisted on both USA goals in a 5-2 loss to Belarus on Thursday, and his first assist of the game was a dazzler.
The Sabres, who are expected to pick Eichel second overall in June's NHL Draft, will likely be happy with his three points in four games (all assists). Eichel has been playing on Team USA's third line with Trevor Lewis (Los Angeles Kings) and Brock Nelson (New York Islanders) or Jimmy Vesey (Harvard University).
