Tampa Bay Lightning F Ryan Callahan Feeling Better After Break
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Callahan says he feels better after the team’s two-day break between games.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been dealing with an inordinate amount of injuries so far this season, and it has been a detriment to the team’s performance on the ice. Every time it seemed things were finally about to turn around for the ailing team, another player would make their way to the injured list.
Thankfully, after suffering a hard-fought 1-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning had a couple of days off before they would have to take the ice to prepare themselves to take on the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night at the Amalie Arena.
This served as a much-needed break for a beaten and bruised Lightning team looking to work their way back to the win column and consistently stay on the right track. Having two days off allowed the players to relax, decompress, and heal some of the injuries that have been plaguing the team.

Before the Tampa Bay Lightning takes the ice tomorrow night to face off with the Canucks, there may be some good news coming the team’s way. According to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Lightning alternate captain Ryan Callahan is feeling better after missing four games with a Lower-Body Injury.
Smith also reports that it was Callahan’s surgically repaired hip that had been giving him issues, and was the reason behind his absence. This is slightly less pleasant news for the Lightning alternate captain as this could potentially rear its head once again later in the season. Here’s hoping this doesn’t become the case.
On the bright side, when you take this news and add it to the fact the Lightning recently reassigned defenseman Luke Witkowski and forward Michael Bournival to the Syracuse Crunch, this could lead one to believe the 31-year-old Lightning alternate captain is nearing a return to the ice.
A Ryan Callahan return against a team like the Vancouver Canucks could prove to be very beneficial for the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Vancouver Canucks will be coming into Thursday night’s encounter with the same desperation and longing the Lightning have right now.
After securing a 3-2 shootout victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, the Canucks fell 3-2 to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night at the Prudential Center in Jersey. As you can imagine, they will be looking for a win just as headstrong as the Bolts.
It remains to be seen whether or not Ryan Callahan will make his return to the ice on Thursday night, but from the way things look right now, there are many more positive signs than negative ones. As game time comes nearer, the bigger picture should begin to come into view.
