Tampa Bay Lightning D Jason Garrison Ready To Go Against Vancouver Canucks

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Jason Garrison is ready to make his return to the Lightning lineup against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been through an almost unimaginable amount of injuries so far this season. Thankfully, things seem to finally be turning around for the Boys In Blue.

Earlier today, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced that Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin has healed from his undisclosed injury and will be ready to make his return to the Lightning lineup tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. Now, it seems as if Drouin will have some company tonight.

According to Tampa Bay Lightning Beat Writer Bryan Burns, Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper plans to go with six defensemen tonight against the Canucks. One of those defensemen will be Lightning d-man Jason Garrison.

Jason Garrison has been relegated to the sidelines since the Tampa Bay Lightning took on the St. Louis Blues on December 1st. It was during this encounter when Garrison took an errant shot to the leg from the stick of Blues sniper Vladimir Tarasenko.

Unfortunately, the puck struck Garrison in one of the few spots largely unprotected by his gear. As you can imagine, this caused quite a significant amount of pain for the Lightning defenseman.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have struggled quite a bit this season on the blueline. This became abundantly apparent when Lightning defenseman Anton Stralman was sidelined with an Upper-Body Injury. Unfortunately, it was the very same game in which Garrison sustained his injury.

Jason Garrison has never really been known as an offensive defenseman like Victor Hedman. At the same time, Garrison has still made an impact this season on the scoresheet. So far this season, Garrison has brought home one goal and two assists for three points.

What Garrison lacks in offensive aggression, he more than makes up for in his defensive prowess. Garrison is one of those gritty defenseman who can make the hard hits, serve as a tremendously large pest to his opponents, and continually knock players off the puck.

Considering the way Lightning players have been taken advantage of on the ice as of late and the little to no action on behalf of the referees to rectify this situation, the Bolts need someone like Garrison on the blueline who can really make an impact.

All the action between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Vancouver Canucks kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at the Amalie Arena. If you can’t make it to the game, you can catch all the action on Fox Sports Sun, or on the go with the Fox Sports Go app.
