St. Louis Blues Morning Links: A Wild Night
Good morning Blues fans! Two days into the 2016-17 season, the Blues are alleviating fears and generating excitement. It’s hard to imagine the year starting much better.
The St. Louis Blues took down the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on day two of the 2016-17 season. Taking nothing away from the Wild, but the game should not have been that close.
The Wild scored one legit goal and one was all but handed to them on a platter. In two games, that seems to be a reoccurring theme.
The Blues have had two turnovers to opponents in open space and both led to goals. I said it on twitter and it boils down to that – two games, two silly turnovers and two goals allowed.
These things are going to happen over the course of an NHL season. Still, as well as the team has played, it is a little disappointing to gift your foes some goals. That can’t happen with such regularity.
On the positive side, the Blues are getting a great team effort. The players we worried would be defensive liabilities have not been.
We’d all still like to see some goals from David Perron or Robby Fabbri, but they will come. Overall, it’s just been solid team efforts.
The only other negative, and this is nitpicky, is I hope we don’t see a constant rotation of players. Magnus Paajarvi worked well, but the staff needs to settle on a lineup and maybe only switch it up every five games or so instead of every other one.
Here are some interesting Blues links to start your day off right.
