Sidney Crosby erases two-goal deficit against Flyers in 43 seconds (Video)
Sidney Crosby single handedly erased a first period 2-0 deficit to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Ever since December of last season, it has been Sidney Crosby’s mission to reclaim his title as best hockey player in the world. He has done precisely that. Even with the emergence of Connor McDavid, Crosby has been as dominant as ever since returning from a concussion. He showed why he’s the best player in the world against a team he loves to do it against — the Philadelphia Flyers.
On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Penguins were down 2-0 to the Flyers in the first period. Crosby erased that deficit in under a minute with two goals.
The announcer said it best: “It’s Flyers two, Crosby two”. Sid The Kid has always done well against the Flyers, netting 33 goals and 48 assists in 55 career games against them. His 81 points against them is the second most he has against any team, trailing only the 96 points he has against the Islanders.
His first goal came off a perfectly placed shot over Flyers goaltender Steve Mason’s glove. Crosby’s shot placement is among the best in the world and the strength of his wrist shot makes it even more deadly.
A power play gave Crosby his second goal off a nice feed from Patric Hornqvist. After winning the faceoff, he makes his way to the center of the ice. On his first goal, Crosby beat Mason glove side. This time, he beat him blocker side. Mason’s got to be feeling pretty darn helpless right now against the best player in the world. But who can blame him? Crosby has made many goaltenders feel that way.
In his career, Crosby has already won two Stanley Cups. He has 340 goals and 941 points in just 709 games. It’s amazing he has done so well because he lost a full season of games thanks to concussions.
