Senators player needed ear reconstruction after taking slap shot to head

Hopefully you finished your Thanksgiving dinner before Thursday night's Senators-Bruins game in Ottawa, because what happened to Sens winger Ryan Dzingel could have caused a lost appetite.

In the game's first period, Dzingel found himself in the path of a slap shot from teammate Erik Karlsson. The puck struck Dzingel in the head and he went down to the ice in pain before being helped to the locker room. It wasn't until after the game that it was revealed Dzingel had suffered some significant damage to his ear and needed it to be "reconstructed."

That sounds extremely painful, but thankfully it seems Dzingel will be fine. In fact, he returned to the game in the second period.
