Secondary market ticket prices for Eastern Conference finals soaring

It is no surprise that there is a lot of interest in these Eastern Conference finals considering what is at stake in Game 7 at Madison Square Garden Friday. But tickets for the game on the secondary market are shattering comparable games from past conference finals.

According to TiqIQ.com, the average asking price for a ticket to Game 7 was $1,528.26 while actual sales prices were averaging $1,012.14. That number is nearly three times the average price of Game 7 tickets for the 2011 Eastern Conference finals between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning, as entry to that event averaged $484.29. TiqIQ.com claimed tickets to last season's Western Conference finals between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings averaged $718.57.

The above-$1,000 ticket price is quite a big chunk of change to hand over, especially considering the price of beer at Madison Square Garden, which Business Insider ranked as the highest of any NHL arena at $10.50 for a draft beer. It seems anything goes in the playoffs.
