Sabres have best odds in NHL Draft lottery set for Saturday

Last-place Buffalo Sabres fans have a big reason to tune into the NHL playoffs next weekend.

The NHL will hold its draft lottery to determine who gets the No. 1 pick on Saturday, before Game 2 of a first-round playoff series between the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Buffalo has the best shot of landing the top pick of the 14 non-playoff teams. The odds are based on the standings, with the Sabres having a 20 percent chance of winning followed by Arizona at 13.5.

Buffalo will pick no lower than second in a draft that features two highly regarded centers: Erie Otters Connor McDavid and Boston University's Jack Eichel.

The Sabres finished 30th last year, but chose second after losing the lottery to 29th-place Florida.
