Report: Visnovsky inks professional tryout contract with Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks have extended a professional tryout contract to veteran defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, according to his agent Neil Sheehy.

Visnovsky joins former Boston Bruins forward Daniel Paille and ex-Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda as the only players offered a tryout contract by the Stanley Cup champions.

The 39-year-old Visnovsky is attempting to secure a roster spot as the Blackhawks deal with the departures of fellow blue-liners Kimmo Timonen (retirement) and Johnny Oduya (Dallas Stars).

Visnovsky scored five goals and set up 15 others in 53 games last season with the New York Islanders. The veteran defenseman notched two assists in four contests of the team's first-round series loss with the Washington Capitals.

Visnovsky has collected 128 tallies and 367 assists in 883 career contests with the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks and Islanders.
