Report: TV reporter who is dating 'Hawks D fired

Comcast SportsNet (CSN) Chicago announced the departure of a reporter who is said to be dating Blackhawks defenseman Nick Boynton, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

"Jen Patterson is no longer an employee of Comcast SportsNet Chicago and we wish her well on her future endeavors," the channel said in a statement. "Per company policy, we have no further comment on personnel matters."

Patterson, who was called a "rising TV talent" by CSN in January, did some reporting and produced feature segments for the channel.

The firing comes less than a week after the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Patterson was dating Boynton.

The report stated that Boynton and Patterson "seem to be a nice cozy item. The pair was spied at various Stanley Cup sightings, the Bears-Lions game and the recent Michigan Avenue mag bash — looking very lovey-dovey."

It is unclear whether Patterson's departure from CSN is linked to her apparent relationship with the 31-year-old Boynton, whom the Blackhawks acquired in a trade in March.

CSN Chicago is the local broadcaster for Blackhawks games and is 20 percent owned by Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz.
