Report: NHL denies four-team expansion by 2017

The NHL may not be ready to expand just yet.

On Tuesday, The Vancouver Province reported that an expansion team in Las Vegas was a "done deal."

Late Tuesday night, Howard Bloom of @SportsBizNews tweeted that the league would add four more teams by 2017 for $1.4 billion in expansion fees.

But on Wednesday, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told French TV network TVA Sports that expansion is "not in our plans".

Seattle, Las Vegas, Quebec City and Toronto are mentioned whenever talk of league expansion surfaces.
