Report: Hamonic willing to finish season with Islanders
After asking for a trade prior to the start of the season, New York Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic told the New York Post on Thursday that he would be willing to stay with the team at least for the remainder of the campaign.
Hamonic called the matter "strictly personal" and understandably wouldn't go any further. Said he'd play the whole season if need be. #Isles

The news comes on the heels of Wednesday's story by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, who wrote that the 25-year-old Hamonic wished to be traded closer to his Winnipeg home for personal reasons.
"I would have liked to have the chance to talk to them and not have them seen it online first, but it is what it is and those things can't be changed, unfortunately," Hamonic told the Islanders official team site on Thursday. "It was difficult. I guess you can ask them, but they were certainly very understanding of a personal situation, as I hope anyone would be in this situation."
Hamonic says his request is strictly personal, nothing to do with #Isles. "I've been treated like gold ever since they drafted me."

Hamonic, who has not divulged the exact nature of his personal situation, has notched three assists and owns a plus-5 rating this season.
