Report: Devils may honor Brodeur, Lamoriello this season

New Jersey Devils general manager Ray Shero expects long-time goaltender Martin Brodeur and former GM Lou Lamoriello will be honored by the team this season.

"It's a matter of when the player feels comfortable. And Lou," Shero told NJ Advance Media. "Obviously they are two of the most important members of this franchise ever. We want to do it the right way at the right time.

"That will happen. When, I don't know."

A potential date for Brodeur could be as soon as Nov. 10, as the St. Louis Blues pay a visit to the Prudential Center. Brodeur, who serves as the assistant general manager of the Blues, played 21 of his 22 seasons in New Jersey and finished with NHL goaltending records in wins (691), shutouts (125), games played (1,266) and minutes played (74,439).

As for Lamoriello, his return to the Garden State could take a bit longer. Lamoriello, who became the general manager with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, will see his new team visit the Devils on the final day of the regular season (April 9).

Lamoriello guided New Jersey to three Stanley Cup championships during his 28-year tenure with the club before joining Toronto.
