Rangers captain out with finger injury
Rangers captain Chris Drury is out for four weeks because of a broken left index finger.
The 34-year-old center was injured while blocking a shot Monday during a scrimmage. Drury will likely be sidelined the entire preseason and at least the regular-season opener at Buffalo on Oct. 9.
''It's a tough break for him,'' Rangers coach John Tortorella said. ''He's a big part of our club as far as what he brings on and off the ice.''
Drury had 14 goals and 32 points in 77 games with the Rangers last season, his third with New York and second as captain. He sat out five games because of a concussion sustained on Nov. 7 when he was hit in the head by the shoulder of Calgary forward Curtis Glencross.
