Predators place Hodgson on waivers; Oilers call up Kassian

A person with direct knowledge of the decision has told The Associated Press the Nashville Predators have placed under-performing forward Cody Hodgson on waivers.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity Wednesday because the Predators have not announced the move. Hodgson had three goals and eight points in 39 games, and had been a healthy scratch in four of the past eight games.

In other NHL moves, Edmonton called up forward Zack Kassian from the minors. Kassian was acquired in a trade with Montreal last month shortly after he was cleared to play after spending more than two months in a substance abuse program.

The Arizona Coyotes claimed Columbus defenseman Kevin Cannauton off waivers. Colorado placed defenseman Nathan Guenin on waivers. And Vancouver forward Chris Higgins cleared waivers
