Penguins president Morehouse to undergo heart surgery

Pittsburgh Penguins president David Morehouse will undergo heart valve repair and bypass surgery on Tuesday, the team announced on Monday.

Travis Williams, the team's chief operating officer, will oversee the team in the absence of the 55-year-old Morehouse, who is expected to be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks.

Morehouse previously has encountered health issues as he had a heart attack on the team plane in 2009, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The newspaper reported that the Pittsburgh native had a minor procedure following the initial health scare.

Named the team's president in April 2007, Morehouse added the title of chief executive officer in September 2010.
