Penguins' Fleury sidelined with concussion, Bennett out 4-6 weeks

New Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan delivered a double dose of bad news on Tuesday, revealing that goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was being tested for a possible concussion and forward Beau Bennett would miss four-to-six weeks with an upper-body injury.

Sullivan's fears on Fleury were quickly confirmed by general manager Jim Rutherford, who told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the following:

Fleury turned aside 30 shots in a 4-1 setback to the Metropolitan Division-rival Washington Capitals on Monday. The netminder quickly alerted the coaching staff to the issue, Sullivan said.

"I haven't talked to the doctor yet. I don't have any further information other than he was examined, and it was determined he was concussed. At a minimum one-to-two weeks. You can't put a timeline on these things though."

While the issue involving Fleury (13-10-2, 2.29 goals-against average) is up in the air, Bennett's medical situation is more concrete. The 24-year-old Bennett was shaken up during the first period following a hit by Capitals forward T.J. Oshie.

The 20th overall pick of the 2010 draft, Bennett has endured several injuries in his relatively young career. He has collected a career-high five goals and five assists in 24 games this season.
