Penguins' Crosby, Letang to miss teammate/roommate Dupuis

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has known Pascal Dupuis for a long time. So has Kris Letang.

Crosby has been teammates with Dupuis since the 2007-08 season and linemates frequently since then. As for Letang, the defenseman knows the 36-year-old Quebec native as his first roommate.

On Tuesday, Dupuis and the Penguins made major news by announcing that the veteran forward will end the playing portion of his NHL career. Dupuis encountered several medical incidents this season that were related to the blood clots that significantly shortened his 2014-15 campaign.

"It's definitely a difficult situation," Crosby told the Penguins website after hearing the official news on Tuesday. "Most guys wouldn't have been able to even come back after what he went through the last couple of years. ... We're going to miss him a lot. He's a great guy, great teammate. I know he'll have a hard time staying away from the rink, so hopefully we'll see lots of him."

Letang elected to share his thoughts on Instagram, posting the following:

Crosby and Letang won't see Dupuis on the ice on Wednesday when the Penguins complete their four-game road trip with a date against the Colorado Avalanche.
