Oilers acquire Derek Roy from Predators for Mark Arcobello

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired center Derek Roy from the Nashville Predators for forward Mark Arcobello.

The Oilers also claimed winger Matt Fraser off waivers from the Bruins on Monday.

Roy has one goal and nine assists in 26 games this season.

Nashville waived Roy on Sunday and announced the forward cleared waivers earlier Monday. He was being sent to Milwaukee in the AHL but now will join the Oilers instead.

In 692 career games, the 31-year-old veteran from Ottawa has 178 goals and 324 assists.

Arcobello, 26, has scored 12 points in 36 games for Edmonton this season, and he has 30 points in 78 NHL games. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound forward was an undrafted free agent signee by Edmonton out of Yale.

Edmonton adds some size and skill with Fraser, a 6-foot-1, 204-pound force. The 24-year-old had three goals in 24 games for Boston this season.

Fraser is on a $625,000, one-year contract while Roy is on a one-year, $1 million deal.

Also, the Oilers waived forward Steve Pinizzotto.
