NHL stars react to the death of Gordie Howe

NHL legend and hockey ambassador Gordon "Gordie" Howe died on Friday at 88.

Also known as "Mr. Hockey" or just "No. 9," the Saskatchewan native debuted in the NHL in 1946 at age 17, the first of his NHL record 25 consecutive seasons with the the Detroit Red Wings.

The physical winger and willing fighter's name is also used to denote when a player records a goal, assist and a fight in the same game -- the "Gordie Howe Hat Trick."

Last but certainly not least, another Detroit Red Wings hero, Steve Yzerman, gave the following statement:
