Washington collected the extra point in a close 4-3 shootout victory in Carolina. San Jose picked up two very difficult points in a 4-2 win in Montreal. The Blue Jackets kept rolling with a 4-1 win in Calgary. Florida edged a struggling Avalanche squad 3-1 as Colorado’s woes at home continue. Lastly, the Canucks beat a tough Lightning team 4-2 at home.

Meier Scores in Sharks Debut

San Jose Sharks top prospect Timo Meier made his NHL debut on Friday night. The Swiss forward managed to score a goal on his very first shot of the game. His arrival is long overdue after starting the year on the injured reserve due to mononucleosis. [Mercury News]
