Habs Acquired Jo.Benn
On Monday, the Montreal Canadiens acquired veteran defenseman Jordie Benn (brother of Jamie). In exchange, the Stars receive defenseman Greg Peteryn and a 4th round draft pick. Benn has two years remaining after this season on a three-year contract with an annual cap hit of $1.1 million dollars. [NHL.com]
Coyotes Acquire Pulkkinen
In perhaps the quietest move in a busy day on Monday, the Arizona Coyotes have acquired 25-year-old forward Teemu Pulkkinen from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations. Pulkkinen has one point in nine games with Minnesota in 2016-17 and 36 points in 47 games with AHL Iowa. [Howlin' Hockey]

Blue Jackets Claim Dalpe Off Waivers
In another quiet move on Monday overshadowed by a barrage of trades, the Columbus Blue Jackets claimed forward Zac Dalpe off waivers from the Minnesota Wild. Dalpe has three points in nine games in 2016-17. The Jackets placed F Matt Calvert on the injured reserve to make room on the 23-man roster. [NHL.com]
Reaction to Boyle Addition
We gave our reaction to the Brian Boyle trade, and Andrew Boehmer over at Editor in Leaf also gave his thoughts on the deal. Oddly enough, it seems folks are all saying the same thing; it looks like management in Toronto is giving their players a vote of confidence. [Editor in Leaf]
Parise, Pominville Latest to be Hit With Mumps Outbreak
We've got a sudden outbreak of mumps here in North America. After making its way through the Canucks dressing room, it looks like Minnesota is the next team to be feeling the ill effects. Veterans Zach Parise and Jason Pominville have both been diagnosed, raising an alarm about a potential league-wide spread as cases continue to grow. [SI.com]
Oilers Looking for a Netminder?
Sammi Silber over at Oil on Whyte wrote an interesting piece as she wonders whether Edmonton will seek to add a bit of insurance between the pipes. Jonas Gustavsson dropped the ball as backup, opening the door for Laurent Brossoit. While Brossoit hasn't looked too bad, he could wind up being a prime target for the Vegas Golden Knights. It leaves the Oilers in a very uncomfortable position. [Oil on Whyte]
NHL Daily Morning Rant
With the NHL Trade Deadline roughly 24 hours away, hockey fans wait in anticipation. As usual, it seems GMs are getting at things a bit early, most recent being Kevin Shattenkirk. Even with a plethora of deals in the last little while, there are still a number of quality names on the board. In today's rant, I wanted to provide 10 names that I believe are most likely to be dealt either today or before the deadline concludes. In fact, I'd be shocked if any were still with their respective clubs:
1. F Thomas Vanek, Detroit Red Wings
2. F Patrick Sharp, Dallas Stars
3. F Jarome Iginla, Colorado Avalanche
4. G Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins
5. D Johnny Oduya, Dallas Stars
6. F Radim Vrbata, Arizona Coyotes
7. D Kyle Quincey, New Jersey Devils
8. D Brendan Smith, Detroit Red Wings
9. F Vladislav Namestnikov, Tampa Bay Lightning
10. F Jannik Hansen, Vancouver Canucks
