On one hand, it’s a little odd for the NHL to be rolling out equipment changes mid-season, especially for goaltenders who are a different breed of player. That being said, I understand why they did it. The goaltending fraternity has long pushed back to prevent these changes, so the NHL is basically fed up. NHL Daily Morning Rant

Speaking further to Danny Lambert’s piece on Mikael Granlund; I’ve been absolutely impressed with his play in 2016-17. Here’s a guy who came into the league as a center, but seemed to have an issue getting involved in the offense. Not just that, he would barely shoot the puck. Long story short, a permanent shift to the wing was exactly what he needed to take a little pressure off the Finn defensively. In turn, he’s putting up big numbers, and the scary thing is, he might still have a higher ceiling.
