New York Rangers Snubbed From FanSided Fandom 250

http://fansided.com/fandom250/

FanSided rated all the fanbases within their universe and unveiled the Fandom 250. But there is just one problem. The New York Rangers were nowhere to be found.

The FanSided Fandom 250 included a wide variety of sites, from entertainment, to sports and back to music. But missing from this list was the New York Rangers, and that must be challenged.

The New York Football Giants at #180

The four-time Super Bowl Champion New York Giants found themselves in spot number 180 out of 250. With no disrespect to the team or their fans, they should have been rated lower. The team has not made the playoffs since the 2011 season.

Yes, they did win their fourth Super Bowl (and second over the New England Patriots) that season, but they have done nothing lately. Four seasons out of the playoffs, losing seasons and coaching changes.

Add that with not so stellar performances on draft day and overspending on free agents and you have a team on a downward spiral. Fans have booed Tom Coughlin and company out of town despite the somewhat recent success.

The New York Jets at #175

Even stranger than the Giants being nestled in at number 180, is the New York Jets finishing in the number 175 spot. The Jets had a chance to make it to the playoffs last season for the first time since 2010, but a crushing loss in Buffalo ended that dream.

To make it worse, Buffalo was led by ex-Jet coach, Rex Ryan. Free Agent acquisitions and high draft choices never seem to pan out for the Jets and Owner Woody Johnson’s money is not well spent.

This past Monday night, the Jets were crushed by the Indianapolis Colts 41-10, as fans began filing out at halftime.

The Jets and their fans still look to their victory in Super Bowl III as the shining moment in the franchise’s history. Unfortunately, it is their only shining moment.

The Unrated New York Rangers

The New York Rangers have made horrible trades, signed free agents that have accomplished nothing and have gone through head coaches like a a baby goes through diapers. But they are also consistently in the playoffs.

Since the 2005-06 season, the Rangers have made in to the playoffs in 10 out of the last 11 seasons. In the last five seasons, the Rangers have made it to the Eastern Conference Finals three times. In 2013-14, they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals before losing in five games to the Los Angeles Kings.

A sellout streak that goes back years, viewing parties throughout New York and New Jersey and two years of wall to wall people at Hockey House at Madison Square Garden, makes the Ranger fan base one of the greatest in sports.

Ranger Fans Speak out

New York Ranger fans throughout North America must make it a point to make it onto FanSided’s next list. Rangers fans must be louder, more active, and continue those chants that make the Madison Square Garden shake.

There will be fans of other teams besides the New York Rangers that will be aggravated that their team did not make the cut. This is what ratings and lists do. They get people involved and discussions started. You will continue to read and comment on these ratings, and you will either agree or disagree, but you will never be bored.
