New York Rangers: JT Miller Belongs on the All-Star Team
The All-Star game is highly regarded by coaches and players alike, as it shows the players with the most skill and dedication to the game. It gives players a chance to play a game that doesn’t impact the standings, simply for the pure joy of hockey. JT Miller is an obvious choice from the New York Rangers to make the team. Here’s why:
The New York Rangers have played extremely well with J.T. Miller on their roster, especially when he records a point. Up until the loss against the Islanders Tuesday night, the team was 13-0-0 when Miller put up at least a point. Also, he is consistently in competition with Kevin Hayes for the team lead in points. Of course, this is a friendly competition between players for the same goal of helping their team win. However, it shows Miller’s commitment to improving his game.
Most years, the All-Star team sees players that have already become stars participate in it. Miller is working his way into stardom with his impressive play, and he deserves this opportunity. Besides the fact that the All-Star game is a spirited competition, it is a great experience for a young player such as Miller to have.
Playing with and against all the top-notch players of the league is a learning experience for everyone involved. The immense skill at this game gives young players the ability to learn how to play like them and how to play against them when the games do count. They are able to memorize their style of play and defend against it.
When you compare his play so far this year to his play last year, you can see the changes that Miller made in his game over the offseason. This includes his speed and driving hard to the net. He’s not only a consistent goal scorer, but he is also a playmaker. Thee way he has produced because of those abilities has pleased the coaching staff this year. His determination to make a difference every night has earned him a top spot on the Rangers’ roster. This is a spot that he knows will be difficult to keep with all the hungry forwards vying for a spot, and he is more than willing to keep up his play to maintain his position.
While Miller is not on the same caliber as Patrick Kane and Sidney Crosby yet, be sure that he has the potential to make it to that level. Miller is a hard-worker and deserves the opportunity to have the great experience of playing at the All-Star game. This chance is a reward for everything he does for the New York Rangers and will continue to do as he prospers as a player.
