New York Islanders Daily: Sabres Roll With A Familiar Top Line

When the Buffalo Sabres released their lineup last night it wasn’t anything new to the New York Islanders. Two of the three were former Islanders.

So last night the Buffalo Sabres looked a lot like the New York Islanders did four years ago. Tell me this line doesn’t look familiar.

Swap out Jack Eichel for John Tavares and it’s the Islanders top line pre-Vanek trade. The Buffalo Sabres are the old Isles.

Oddly enough both former Islanders had a major role in the win for Buffalo. Matt Moulson scored the game tying goal, and Kyle Okposo had the assist on the overtime game winner.

This one definitely hurt because it reminded you have happier times in Isles land. When the Islanders had an up-and-coming team like in 2012-2013. Last night we were reminded of how far the Islanders are removed from those times.

Instead, it is now the Sabres are the team on the upswing while the Islanders are spiraling downward looking like a team that needs major changes.
