New Jersey Devils: Pavel Zacha and Taylor Hall Have Good Chemistry

The New Jersey Devils finally had their offense wake up in their recent win against the Arizona Coyotes. The chemistry between two of their best offensive players had a big role in that.

It has been a slow start for the New Jersey Devils on offense, but things might be turning the corner. In their recent win against the Arizona Coyotes, the Devils’ offense exploded for five goals.

The addition of Taylor Hall has been a great one for the Devils so far. In six games, Hall has totaled five goals already. In the win against the Coyotes, Hall scored twice. On both goals, the primary assist went to rookie Pavel Zacha.

Hall and Zacha have been playing on the same line for the past two games, and there appears to be some chemistry early on. Zacha is just 19-years-old, but he has already made a huge impression on Hall, who enjoys playing next to him.

“Great young player. He’s a guy that’s big and strong and very capable in his own end for a player of his age,” Hall said to Chris Ryan of NJ.com. “You usually don’t see that. And on faceoffs, usually, that takes a lot of time to get the faceoffs down and be a guy who can be relied on there.”

“That’s a play where you usually can’t run that with a 19-year-old centerman. He’s so big and strong, he’s able to win battles and win faceoffs like that,” Hall said to Ryan. “And I’ve been working on that shot a little bit, so it was nice to see it go in.”

The lines have understandably been shuffled early on in the season to try and find the best matches. Head coach John Hynes looks like he has a good one forming with Hall playing on the wing with Zacha.

“It’s been fun playing with him. It seems lately, the lines have been shuffled around during the games a lot,” Hall said to Ryan. “I said this from day one: there’s a lot of good players to play with here, a lot of guys who make other guys around him better, so it’s fun.”

Next up for the Devils will be a challenging game at home against the Chicago Blackhawks. If the Devils are going to beat them, they will need to continue to play well on the offensive end of the ice.
