Stanley Cup Final: Top moments from Canadiens vs. Lightning Game 2

After the Tampa Bay Lightning were the first to strike in the Stanley Cup Final, the pressure was on the Montreal Canadiens to even the series.

Hot off their 5-1 victory Monday, the Lightning again took on the Canadiens in Game 2 in Tampa, Florida, with their eyes on a commanding series lead.

Despite an incredible effort from the Canadiens, that is exactly what Tampa Bay got. Behind an impressive performance from their goalie and an absurd, diving goal, the Lightning won 3-1 Wednesday to go up 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Final.

Here are the top moments from Game 2.

The fans in Florida were ready to go.

Andrei Vasilevskiy continued his fine work from Game 1 early in Game 2.

It was no stick, no problem for Brendan Gallagher.

The Lightning had the game's first power play early in the first period, but they weren't able to do anything with it.

Then came another power play, but there was still nothing to show for it for the Lightning, as Carey Price denied Tampa Bay's best attempts.

Aside from some excellent work by the goalies, the story of the first period was penalties. At one point, the two teams had three men in the box.

Even so, both teams finished the first period scoreless.

Finally, the goal-scoring began in the second, with Anthony Cirelli getting a shot past Price to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.

The lead didn't last long, as the Canadiens fired right back on the next power play with a goal from Nick Suzuki.

Then, with 0.3 seconds left in the second, Blake Coleman gave the Lighting a 2-1 lead with this ridiculous, diving score.

It was a tough way to end the frame after the Canadiens put up a strong fight in the second period.

The fans were feeling … patriotic? … to start the third period.

Social media was still buzzing about Coleman's goal, which apparently wasn't a new move from him.

Price continued to battle in goal for the Habs while his team fought to tie the game.

That's not to suggest that the goalie on the other end was being outdone. Not in the least.

The Lightning broke through once more with this goal from Ondrej Palat, his fifth of the postseason, on a turnover by the Canadiens.

Behind Vasilevskiy's incredible, 42-save performance, the Lightning held on from there to take Game 2 and a 2-0 lead in the Final.

The teams will travel to Montreal for Game 3, which begins at 8 p.m. ET Friday (NBC).
