Make-A-Wish kid inks one-day contract with Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers haven't seen too many smiles at Rexall Place this season, but one sure was visible on Wednesday.

The larger-than-life smile came from pint-sized powerhouse Kohen Flett, an 8-year-old wunderkind who signed a one-day contract with the team - thanks to an assist from both Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta and the Oilers. Flett was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 15 months of age and is fending off low-grade Glioma that battles the nervous system.

With an ample amount of energy, Flett made his presence felt by helping superstar Connor McDavid with his equipment and joining coach Todd McLellan for a spirited pre-practice speech. Via the Edmonton Journal:

"It was the best day of my life."

Flett then took his act to the ice, showing the Oilers a thing or two with his skills while also taking Darnell Nurse down a peg. Nurse got the message and the two made up quickly.

With enthusiasm like this, Flett could find himself back on the team in no time.
