Logan Couture knocked out of lineup with broken leg
The San Jose Sharks confirmed the worst Friday morning when the team announced center Logan Couture will miss the next 4-6 weeks after suffering a broken leg in practice Thursday.
"Logan was injured in practice on Thursday in New Jersey and suffered a fractured right fibula at the ankle," Sharks GM Doug Wilson said in a statement. "He will be returning to San Jose to undergo surgery under the direction of Kaiser Permanente’s medical team."
Concern about Couture rose Thursday when reports emerged saying the center had to be helped off the practice ice and then left the rink using crutches with his leg in a boot. The Sharks were practicing ahead of a Friday game against the Devils in New Jersey.
Couture extended his thanks to the public for their concern on Twitter Friday morning.
The 26-year-old is off to a semi-slow start with one point in three games, but as a player who put up a career-high 67 points in 82 games last season, Couture is an important factor on offense for the Sharks and will be greatly missed.
