Lil Wayne congratulates Alex Ovechkin on his hat trick

It seems like Alex Ovechkin has recorded A Milli hat tricks during his career.

He's actually had 14, and in his most recent effort against the Minnesota Wild, Ovechkin tallied three goals in the second period.

One big admirer of the feat, Lil Wayne, gave a shoutout to the Russian winger.

Lil Wayne is right: Ovechkin is a beast onna ice. Ovechkin's three goal effort brought his season total up to 34, giving him the outright lead in the NHL for goals this season.

This isn't just a random shoutout from the rapper. According to Russian Machine Never Breaks, Ovechkin and Lil Wayne (and Drake) met up after a concert in 2011.

Lil Wayne isn't the only rapper to give his respect to a hockey player. In a concert in London, Ontario, Snoop Dogg wore the London Knights sweater of Mitch Marner, a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect.
