Leafs ink forward David Booth to one-year deal

TORONTO -- Veteran forward David Booth has signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs after spending last season with Vancouver.

Last month, the Canucks used a compliance buyout on the remaining year of his contract, freeing up over $5 million in salary cap space.

The 29-year-old winger had nine goals and 10 assists in 66 games last season.

He has 218 career points in 443 games with Vancouver and Florida. In 2008-09 with the Panthers, Booth set career highs in goals (31), assists (29) and points (60) in 72 games.

A native of Detroit, Booth was selected 53rd overall by Florida in the 2004 draft.
