Kings re-sign F Tyler Toffoli to $6.5M, 2-year deal

Forward Tyler Toffoli has agreed to a $6.5 million, two-year contract to stay with the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings announced the deal Friday with Toffoli, who would have become a restricted free agent next month.

Toffoli established career highs with 23 goals, 26 assists, a plus-25 rating and five short-handed goals last season for the Kings. He was Los Angeles' third-leading scorer and led the NHL in short-handed points and goals.

The former second-round pick has played three NHL seasons, scoring 37 goals. He won a Stanley Cup title with the Kings in 2014.

Goalie Martin Jones is the Kings' most important remaining restricted free agent. Los Angeles' unrestricted free agents include Conn Smythe Trophy winner Justin Williams and defenseman Andrej Sekera.
