IIHF says NHL presence at 2018 Olympics 'will not be easy'

Ever since the 2014 Winter Olympics, there has been a lot of talk about whether NHL players would be able to compete in the 2018 Pyeongchang Games in South Korea. IIHF president Rene Fasel updated the public on the status of NHL players for those fames recently, but he did not provide the most optimistic outlook.

Fasel told The Associated Press that the IIHF is beginning talks with players and officials about a deal for the 2018 Olympics, but he warned that the process will be lengthy and noted it "will not be easy."

The NHL did not reach an agreement for the Sochi Olympics until seven months before the games.
