Ice ready at Islanders' new home

The New York Islanders took one step closer to making the Barclays Center their new home.

On Tuesday, the team's website released a time-lapse video showing the ice being placed in their new Brooklyn home. The Islanders will play three preseason games at Barclays Center before opening the 2015-16 campaign against the defending Stanley Cup-champion Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 9.

New York, which won four Stanley Cup championships from 1980-83, spent its first 43 years playing home games at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale.
