Hurricanes' Gerbe sidelined 4-6 weeks with lower-body injury
Carolina Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe is expected to miss four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced on Tuesday.
Gerbe suffered the injury after Los Angeles Kings forward Kyle Clifford lowered the boom with a big hit during the first period of Sunday's game. Carolina promptly ruled Gerbe out of the contest prior to the second.
Clifford wasn't penalized for the hit, although he received a five-minute fighting major after mixing it up with Hurricanes forward Brad Malone.
Gerbe has collected one goal and two assists in 20 games this season. The 28-year-old has scored 56 goals and set up 78 others in 367 career contests with the Buffalo Sabres and Hurricanes.
